Memorial Day Weekend - Loon Lake

Ben and I along with both Grissom and Keady made our way to the annual trip to Loon Lake for Memorial Day. Ben has to work on Saturday's so we had a late start, but I like to go with Ben's saying of "Why rush to relax". With him being gone all day I was able to clean the entire house before we left.

We get the car packed and were on our way in the afternoon.  I must say I think we have the best travel dogs in the world - until Grissom takes off after we open the door when we get to the Lake.... what a punk.

We had fun, it was SO busy though. The store ran out of ice- yes, it was 90 + degrees everyday we were there. Keady was a little scared of the water at first, but since her and Grissom are best friends she followed him in after while. She is a pro at jumping off the pier and raft now! (and the boat.. into the gross channel... twice.) My husband is a saint when it comes to the dogs:

We spent lots of time outside so there aren't many pictures- instead I waited until Ben was grumpy and sun burnt to make him take pictures.... note his ADORABLE faces (sarcasm).

Happy Memorial Day 2012

May Birthdays - Nick and Bobbie

My step-mom and little brother celebrate their birthday's just a few days apart. I thought I would give them both birthday shout outs in one blog!

Nick (nickel-pickle) just turned eleven. Woah- where has the time gone? I remember carrying you around and changing diapers. You were such a energetic baby. You would run and run and run circles around your mom and dad. You are still so energetic and I pray that someday you will find a great outlet for that energy. Did you all know that Nick is a baseball stud! He is sought after to be on all kinds of travel teams. I am happy to see another Berhalter in athletics. Nick came up and visited me two summers ago and the only time he sat still was when Ben and I took him to an Indians game! He love baseball- Happy late birthday Nick!

Bobbie just celebrated a BIG milestone- 50th Birthday! She is such a beautiful women and has been such a strong hold for her family. Her battle with MS is a tough one, but each day she smiles and tries to get through the pain for her family. I hope she had an amazing birthday and I know the next 50 will be amazing!

Summer Break!

I am happy to announce it is now summer break for me! This year summer is ACTUALLY a break. I am not coaching, planning a wedding, taking a bunch of trips, moving, or anything stressful. I am looking forward to crafting, taking time to get in shape, sleeping in! The list is long and glorious.

Before I get to excited I must say that I will miss several of the seniors who will be graduating tomorrow! One in particular. This young man was a swimmer and even gave me an awesome framed piece of art work - see here for that story. He was a cadet for me and often would run out to my car to get things I forgot or were to heavy to carry in. Doing that he realized I NEVER locked my doors.

After he figured this out I began to find things in my car, like a free coffee coupon, gum, Purdue stickers.... the list is endless. After one very rough day in the classroom he must have gotten wind of the terror in B-06 and wrote me a very kind note- basically giving me a teacher verbal high-five.

I pulled into school on the last day and the seniors aren't there on that day- I then realized I would never be getting kind gifts or thoughtful words of encouragement. WRONG- I went to leave there was a tiny piece of paper, simple and sweet "You will never know how much I learned from you. I will miss you." Tears.

THEN- the last teacher day I walked out to a few little notes - that's Sam for you- never can leave things sweet must make a joke too. My car was sticky noted. Evidence below:

Always a good laugh. I am going to miss ALL my seniors so much. Please be safe in all your life experiences and feel free to stop by and chat ANY TIME!

If Keady had thumbs...

Today Ben and I had very busy days and when I got home I had to let the dogs out really quick. Keady made a mess in her crate so I put her in the guest bathroom when I had to rush out the door for dinner with Ben.

I got home before Ben and went to let her out.... only to find that in her panic, after realizing what mom had just done, she SOMEHOW locked the door from the inside and I could NOT get her out.

I had to wait for Ben to arrive home to save the day. See the following evidence that I am NOT ready for a real child:

In other news, tomorrow is my last day of school and this summer I plan to do nothing but get in shape and spend some time with my little brother. Throw a few 5K's and in there and my 26th birthday and all is good!

Party Planner

For those of you who don't know, I am in a good friend's wedding in June and I have had so much fun helping her learn from my mistakes. I helped with the invitations and programs and now the parties!

This past week I threw her a bridal shower for all our co-workers. Her colors are pink and black and I used those colors as my pallet. We had to use the school as the facility and I used our cafetorium. The food was catered by one of our classes called "culinary arts" and I made all the center pieces from an idea on pinterest.

So this is how it all turned out:

Next up is the Bachlorette Party this weekend.... doubt any pictures will be finding their way into the blog but I will give an appropriate play by play upon a safe arrival back to Bluffton next week! Until next time!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today is a great day. I love the women in my family. I have the best females to look up too! I have Grandma Minnie, Grandma Glenna, Mom, Aunt DD, Grandma B, Bobbie and now my female role models have multiplied, I now have Rosemary, Lindsay, and Grandma Gaynell.

Ben and I are so lucky to have such amazing and loving female role models. We wouldn't be here today without the love and guidance from all of you!

I miss dance.

I came across this video today and I just had to share it on here. I try to explain to others what Higher Ground Dance Company meant to me, but I can never quite get the meaning across verbally. It is a feeling of success, happiness and release. This video explains it all.

Enjoy - If you are at all interested:
